EADS

Today, May the 6th, 2026. I cannot believe it's already May 6th. We are, welcome to our Denton County Commissioner's Court. It's a very light agenda today. We're basically doing an executive session to do some interviews. Is there, Teresa, is there anyone here that is for public input for items not listed on the agenda? We have no one registered for public input. Okay, we will go directly into executive session, which is item 2A under the Texas Government Code 551.071(1)(A), consultation with attorney in a closed meeting when the governmental body seeks the advice of its attorney about pending litigation and cause number 26-3611-431 style Denton County, the County of Denton, Texas versus Victoria Johnson et al., currently pending in the 434, 431st Judicial District Court of Denton County, Texas in any appropriate action.

And item 2B, Texas Government Code 551.074(a)(1), personnel matters, closed meeting to deliberate the appointment of Denton County Constable Precinct 1, effective May 29th, 2026, and it is 10:01, and we are in executive session. Thank you.

Reconvene from executive session. Remember, there will be no action today on item 2A. There'll be no action. And item 2B, we do have an action item related to 2B, which is related to the appointment of a Denton County Constable Precinct 1, which would be effective May 29th, 2026, and do we have a motion?

WILLIAMS

I'll make a motion to appoint Trevor Kruger.

EDMONDSON

I'll second.

EADS

All right, we have a motion and a second. On the floor, is there any discussion?

WILLIAMS

Yeah, I want to say thank you to all the applicants. I've really appreciated it. I think there was, it wasn't that not one person wasn't qualified. I think we just made one choice, and again, I really appreciate all the applicants, and I appreciate the Commissioner's Court taking the time to deep dive into this, so thank you, Judge.

EADS

Perfect. Any other discussions?

EDMONDSON

I agree with what you said, Commissioner, and I enjoyed meeting people that I didn't know and see the passion that they have for public service, and I appreciate that and wish them all well. Yes.

EADS

All right, I would echo those comments. I appreciate the public, the fine public service that all of our applicants today have demonstrated over many decades to the state of Texas and to Denton County, and I believe many of them are choosing to pursue this office through the political process as well and not just the appointment process, so I wish them all the best and thank them for their willingness to serve the residents here in Precinct 1. All right, any other comments? All right, we have a motion and a second. All in favor, say aye.

Aye. Any opposed? Motion carries unanimously.

Thank you. We are adjourned.
